Iyengar Yoga is a system of hatha yoga developed by B.K.S. Iyengar which takes a pose-by-pose approach.  In an Iyengar Yoga class, you can expect precise instruction, well-crafted sequences that are creative and varied. Iyengar yoga classes have “levels”, which helps students learn the fundamentals before building up to more complex poses.  Inversions become a regular part of the practice as one gains more experience. Finally, the teacher is “responsive” to the students in the room, and the creative use of props can enhance awareness and learning, and increase accessibility in response to the variation in the human form.

About Rosie

Rosie Richardson discovered Iyengar yoga in 1998 as an exhausted parent of small children. As a former dancer and synchronized swimmer, she was drawn to the precision of the instruction and the well-rounded, multi-faceted approach and explorative nature of the practice. Rosie is a transplant to the Bay State from the Bay area of California where she completed her two-year teacher training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco in 2008, studied with senior teachers there, and deepened her study through 4 trips to India to study with the Iyengar family. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at Level 2.

Rosie has taught for 14 years and brings a deep understanding of anatomy, and a background in therapeutic yoga for back issues and bone health to her teaching.  She has served on the boards of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the US and the Iyengar Yoga Association of New England.  Prior to starting on the path of yoga, she worked in not-for-profit management, consumer product marketing, business development and university and public broadcasting fundraising.  Rosie grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and is in love with the breadth of hiking here in the Bay State and beyond.
