Vanessa Mayer

Vanessa Mayer is a skilled and experienced massage therapist who has been in private practice for over ten years. Vanessa grew up in Lexington, MA and was a figure skater with The Haydenettes, an internationally competitive synchronized figure skating team. She graduated from the University of Vermont, studying studio art and environmental studies, and in general learning to love all things Vermont--kale, cows, cheese and love of nature!

Vanessa received her initial massage training with the Green Mountain Institute for Integrative Bodywork, attending their four-month intensive program on the southern coast of Portugal. This immersive experience set the foundation for future trainings in trigger point therapy, myofascial release and other modalities involving sports, pregnancy and oncology massage.

Vanessa completed an Orthopedic Massage training with Tom Karis in 2014. She then went on to train and study with Katie Adams and her staff at 360 Neuromuscular Therapy in Needham, MA. This experience increased her knowledge of trigger points and pain referral patterns and has greatly influenced her current work. Ever mindful of the belief that massage is an effective tool in unlocking and releasing built up physical and emotional tension, her style combines long, flowing, integrative strokes with more focused and deeper work on specific areas of tension. She hopes to create a space in which each client feels safe, comfortable and supported.

Beyond massage, Vanessa's interests include yoga, anatomy, tea preparation, juicing, strength training and travel--most memorably to Costa Rica, Hawaii and Bali.
